The F1-F12 keys all have special functions, for example, F2 lowers the brightness. I don't have to use the fn key for this. This is useful and I don't want to permenently disable these keys. Some Mac notebook computers have a group of keys with small numbers on them that can be used as a numeric keypad. To use these keys as a keypad, press the Num Lock (F6) key, or press and hold the Fn key while you press the keys on the keyboard.
